The next step in losing belly fat is to convert your body into a fat burning machine as opposed to a glucose or sugar burning machine. When you alkalize the body and eat low glycemic foods your body goes into a state of ketosis, which simply means that your body has depleted most of its glucose and is burning fat for energy. You have in essence become a fat burning machine. You can buy Ketostix at the local pharmacy and measure the ketones in your blood by dipping the Ketostix in the stream of your urine when you first go to the bathroom in the morning.
